At five, Reza Safinia wore out a Barry White cassette learning every string line and snare hit on it. The boy who wanted to be Quincy Jones became a songwriter and producer, then a composer. His work now joins orchestral writing, electronics and sound design, from the score for Warrior to his own records.

A period martial-arts drama set in 1870s San Francisco, based on the writings of Bruce Lee and produced by Justin Lin. Reza and H. Scott Salinas scored the series across three seasons, from Cinemax to Max, and three soundtrack albums followed.

In 2021 Reza released two albums as a pair. Yin is post-classical piano and cello; Yang is electronic and still threaded with live strings and keys. They were first performed live at sunset on the Robot Heart bus in the desert.
